The members of the new consumption and marketing research centre regularly appear in the media to share the results of their work with the general public. Research is also shared through cooperation with companies within the scope of of research projects and chairs. Researchers from the research centre are also invested in developing educational projects directly related to their research. Furthermore, several events are organised every year to bring together different stakeholders (such as researchers, companies, academic partners, and students) to discuss research conducted at the centre of excellence.

PROJECTS
Project financed by the ;
Diego Rinallo is the Project Leader for Kedge BS and Work Package Leader for work package 2 “Commercial Valorization of the Alpine Food Heritage”.
Main Partners: Polo Poschiavo (Switzerland), Regione Lombardia (Italy), Regione Valle d’Aosta (IT), Syndicat Mixte du Parc Naturel Regional du Massif des Bauges (FR), Associazione Dislivelli (IT), Comunità Montana di Valle Camonica (IT), TSM – Trentino School of Management (IT), Razvojna Agencija Zgornje Gorenjske (Slovenia), RRA Severne Primorske d.o.o. ova Gorica (Slovenia), Centre Regional d’Etudes des populations alpines (CREPA), University of Innsbruck (Austria), Munich University of Applied Sciences.

Food systems are socioeconomic and cultural practices tied to food production and consumption. Food & culinary heritage goes beyond products and includes production landscapes and traditional knowledge of production techniques, consumption rituals and customs, and the transmission of ancestral wisdom. Population decline, the ageing of populations, and globalisation are endangering Alpine food & culinary heritage. The project identified and documented 150 elements of Alpine food & culinary heritage and over 100 of the best practices for promoting the commercial value of this heritage. It also examines the synergy between cultural and economic value creation and tested new approaches in 10 pilot areas. The principle results of the project include an online inventory of Alpine food systems, guidelines for legally protecting Alpine food & culinary heritage, a guidance document on successful commercialisation of Alpine food & culinary heritage, field studies of the best commercialisation practices, a digital ethnographic study of the food & culinary heritage on Instagram and Tripadvisor, a chart of Alpine food & culinary heritage, and finally a prospective study of Alpine food & culture heritage.
Olivia Petit created the Biometric Marketing Lab, for students, researchers, and Practitioners including new tools such as eye-trackers, heartbeat and skin conductance measures.

It is part of a major strategic reflection process for LCL. As part of the efforts to conduct the study, a steering committee is convening every fifteen days. It brings together representatives from KEDGE and members of the LCL executive committee.

CHAIRS
- Business as unusual: Innovative practices & new business models
The ‘Business as Unusual’ chair, created in 2013, aims to explore and further the understanding of new practices and business models as well as new organisational forms in a rapidly changing environment.
Since 2001, the “Business in a Connected World” Chair develops and disseminates knowledge and state-of-the-art expertise on the adoption and use of digital technologies by consumers and companies. The aim of the Chair is also to study the evolution of different forms of retailing as well as the development and integration of customer relations into an omni-channel strategy.
- Sustainable Sourcing in the Network Environment
The ‘Sustainable Sourcing in the Network Environment’ research chair, founded in 2008 by businesses, NGOs and the KEDGE Business School, is developing a dynamic vision and an in-depth, multi-faceted understanding of responsible purchasing.
Pedagogy and student life
Trainings associated with the centre
The research conducted by the centre of excellence are transposed in different forms in almost all of KEDGE’s educational programmes:
- MSc Digital Marketing & Sales
- MAI – Innovation & International Purchasing
- MSc International Business
- MSc Sport – International Sport & Event Management
The courses integrated in these programmes relate to ‘classic’ marketing subjects such as brand management and luxury marketing as well as:
- sensory marketing, experiential marketing, UX design & web ergonomics, customer-computer interaction,
- culture, consumption and marketing,
- tribal marketing & brand communities, etc.,
- and e-sports (video games).
As part of the educational process, KEDGE researcher-professors involve students in their efforts both in courses and through final dissertations. Student participation can take new and original forms--a member of the centre is a certified Lego Serious Play coach.
